Queen Palm: The Tropical Beauty I Brought from the Mediterranean to Sakarya

Syagrus romanzoffiana (Queen Palm) is a South American tropical/subtropical palm, naturally occurring in Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay. While it grows outdoors along Turkey's Mediterranean coast, it requires winter protection in Sakarya where temperatures drop below -5°C to -7°C. My approach: keep it in a large container, bring it into the greenhouse in early November, return it to full sun in late April. Two years in, the main summer challenge is leaf tip browning — likely due to fast-drying container soil and heat stress. Notes on container mix, repotting timing, and pruning browned leaves included.
