Note

Citrus unshiu, native to Japan and known in the Black Sea region as the 'Rize mandarin', is one of the most cold-hardy mandarins in the citrus world. Seedless with a thin, easy-peeling skin, it is ideal for eating fresh. It ripens early and is harvested in October–November. It is less tolerant of strong sun than other citrus.

🌱 From the Garden — Personal Notes

Planted 2022
First Fruit 2024
Harvest Season October – November
Pollinator Needed No
Location in Garden South slope, full sun

Four years ago we grafted it onto the rootstock of a citrus that had died. The garden is on a south-facing slope in full sun and dry — so the peel came out thicker than normal, but the taste is good. We've been getting fruit for 3 years, more every year. (translated from Turkish)
