Italian-258 Fig: Everything It Has Given My Garden

The fig tree is a world unto itself. It's a sea I've newly discovered. I plan to write about every new variety I add to my garden, starting with I-258 — the king of figs.

I-258 is a rare fig selected from varieties brought from Italy to the United States in the 1980s. It's loved for being incredibly productive, delicious, early-ripening and easy to grow.

To fully experience fresh fig flavor, you must grow your own. Once fully ripe, they're nearly impossible to transport. Everyone should plant one in their garden.
